Vuze would be more awesome if it could ...

You've used all your votes and won't be able to post a new idea, but you can still search and comment on existing ideas.

There are two ways to get more votes:

  • When an admin closes an idea you've voted on, you'll get your votes back from that idea.
  • You can remove your votes from an open idea you support.
  • To see ideas you have already voted on, select the "My feedback" filter and select "My open ideas".

  1. A built in VPN

I would buy Vuze+ if it had a built in VPN.
You see, anonymity is key 4 me.

  2. Multiple proxy addresses

Some torrent proxy services provide multiple proxy addresses. Vuze should accept multiple addresses in configuration options. It should use proxies that work and avoid proxies that are not working.

  3. ... more simply be tied to a VPN.

The instructions for tying a download to a VPN are difficult(for me) to follow. There needs to be something simpler. If it is already simple, it escapes me. There also needs to be a clear indication, up front, when the VPN is tied.

  7. i2p

The i2p settings/feature us great but 99% of the times I get zero activity when using this setting but when I switch to a lower setting like "*****" my activity up & down jumps into action. I'm not sure what people are not using the i2p setting more but…

Maybe users you share via i2p setting should get double share ration points.
How about a mandatory percentage of seeds will be automatically to i2p to keep i2p alive.

I'm sure other users can come up with suggestion too.

  8. Load a PRIVATE profile, with encrypted download dir and config dir

I want a password-protected loadable private profile that restore a previous Vuze session with:
    - Load the session configuration file, including a custom download dir and other settings (azureus.config)
    - Auto-mount of an encrypted download dir (ex. "encfs crypted_dl_dir plain_dir" on Linux)
    - Load the list of active torrent of the session, without the need to re-check files data (download.config & "active" directory I guess)

Well, I guess we can do that with a shell script.

  9. Provide offers teaming up with torrent proxy provider rather than an AV provider.

Most folk already have AV but need a proxy ... I was about to upgrade to Vuse+ but do not want 2 AV programs ... I would be happy to cancel my anonymous proxy to support Vuse and would expect many others to be the same.

  10. Fix it's malware problem!

For the last week I have been getting attempted downloads through the program's advertisements. It started with one bad .SWF but now it's a constant stream of .EXE files that pop up confirmation windows. Adjust this so that I stop getting malware! Until then I'll be using another program.

  12. Disconnect unknown or suspicios Bittorrent clients

Sometimes clients like "Unknown [--h--*--qM-{;l------]" appear in the swarm and i am pretty sure they are not there to download or upload but more likely to spy or do other damage.

  14. Hide torrents being downloaded

This would be great to hide torrents where the PC is in a family setting and some torrents are adult in content. I have my PC in the guest room and although only adult friends stay in there I do not want them going in during the day to see my adult torrents along with my other torrents. If I or any parent could hide the adult torrent using a feature similar to Excel where you hide the column or row.

  15. Check version via VPN (or proxy?)

I've used a VPN with Vuze (force=yes) for several months and two trackers show my ISP IP# instead of VPN IP# so i guess it's sent sometime somehow (though i didn't detect it in simple traffic captures of scrape requests).

I'm not sure on the implications of this for my privacy/anonymity but at least it defeats some purposes of using a VPN with BT.

What i've found in the SVN:
"(HttpURLConnection)url.openConnection();" needs to be replaced (to use NetworkManager i guess) in http://svn.vuze.com/public/client/trunk/azureus2/src/com/aelitis/azureus/core/versioncheck/VersionCheckClient.java , http://svn.vuze.com/public/client/trunk/azureus2/src/org/gudy/azureus2/core3/ipchecker/extipchecker/impl/ExternalIPCheckerServiceImpl.java and maybe other places..

Since i don't think i'll be able to implement this myself, until…

  16. Help me compile my own local blocklist

Every time my Vuze client joins a swarm, a local IP address appears among the list of peers for about one second and then disappears. I have reason to believe that the local IP address is being used by a crawler that belongs to a local anti-P2P organization, but before I can select it and Kick and Ban it, it's gone. I wish I could command my Vuze client to compile a list of IP addresses that repeatedly engage in such peek-and-run behavior. Then I could review the list from time to time and decide which if any addresses I…

  17. Include IPv6 addresses/ranges in IP Filter list

I tried to add an IPv6 address range to the IP Filters block list for the first time today (via Options > IP Filters > "Add" button at the bottom) and was surprised to find that the entry was created with a random-looking IPv4 address instead. (Likely this was a misparsed translation of the IPv6 address "range" I attempted to add.)

I tried pasting in the "range" (actually just the same single IPv6 address twice, as both "start" and "end") both with and without enclosing square braces, and the result was the same.

For example, attempt to add a filter…

  18. Profile/Settings encryption - enhanced privacy and security

First of all, please forgive me my not so perfect English. Now the feature request and it's motivation will follow:

We live in time where privacy is becoming more important than ever, and software must react to this situation. One of key features I am missing in any torrent client is an enhanced privacy where all the settings (filelist) would be encrypted, and the fact that it is encrypted would be somehow made known to public.

There are adversaries who can target the user depending on the content he shared, and when they pick their target they prefer to pick…

  19. change the update interval of ip filter file

vuze updates the ip filter file every 7 days:
    - could we chose the update interval (e.g. every 1 to 7 days)
    - could vuze support 7z format
    - could we load 2 or 3 filters (http://www.iblocklist.com/list.php?list=bt_level1, http://www.iblocklist.com/list.php?list=bt_dshield ...)

    thanks
